Addition Removal and Brick Restoration

An exterior and interior project at the back of an older brick home. A worn bump out was removed, the kitchen wall behind it was opened and rebuilt, and the exterior wall was finished in brick that blends with the rest of the house. The first image compares before and after outside, and the second compares the kitchen wall opened up and finished.

The Exterior

From a worn bump out to a continuous brick wall.

The bump out had weathered siding and an open frame, so scaffolding went up and it was taken down. The opening was framed and wrapped, then bricks were laid up to the stone trim at the base. The finished wall reads as one piece with the rest of the house.

The Interior

The kitchen wall rebuilt behind it.

With the bump out gone, the kitchen wall was opened to the studs and insulated, then closed up and finished. The finished wall is clean and flat, with space for hooks and shelving above the counters.
